Embedded memory

Crocus’ MLU technology was developed specifically to be integrated into System-on-Chip (SoC) products that combine microcontrollers and memory on a single chip. An embedded MLU can replace Flash, EEPROM or SRAM as a single extremely fast memory, which provides unlimited cycling performances. The data is always non-volatile and offers a retention of more than 20 years. MLU is ideal for low-power solutions, such as data logging, program storage, data buffering and data cache applications.

 

Crocus MLU is the next-generation embedded memory

In a standard CMOS process, MLU technology is implemented at the final metal layer stage. It has the advantage of being able to be applied to virtually any base CMOS process. Because our technology is highly scalable and versatile, it dominates other multiple embedded memory types.

 

Embedded products integrate complex memory systems to achieve reliability, data integrity and low energy. However, most memory currently in use is approaching its limits in how small the technology can scale. Therefore, the market is looking at emerging solutions to solve these technology limitations. Today and for the foreseeable future, Crocus’ MLU is the best next-generation embedded memory solution.

 

Crocus has designed several MLU memory bloc IPs that are available for licensing to customers wishing to integrate our memory technology in their own designs. Under this license, Crocus will transfer all necessary information to use the MLU IP. This covers documentation. More importantly, it includes transfer of the full knowledge required to create new designs based on MLU. 

 

For customers wishing to develop their own specific designs, Crocus has a team of MLU engineers dedicated to providing custom design services under the license agreement. These engineers will be responsible for consulting with customer teams and developing bespoke solutions with the aim of producing final “design kit” black-box integration macros.

CT32MLU IP

CT32MLU has been developed for specific use in Secure Element applications. CT32MLU exceeds all the limits of traditional non‐volatile memory by providing vast endurance, byte update granularity and excellent write performance with 60ns of update time (no sector erase needed).

CT32MLU is available in 90nm process node from SMIC and is available in several densities from 512KB to 1.2MB.

 

 

CTe2MLU IP

CTe2MLU is designed for specific applications that require very small density. It is particularly suited to RFID products.
